Using upright and modern 3D examinations (with 1080Map if required) to gain optimal assessment, James then combines osteopathic techniques, acupuncture, movement and exercise to really maximise the benefit of treatment.

James is fascinated by the body’s potential for healing and specialises in the treatment of acute injuries and some chronic pain syndromes.

James spends much of his time working within the framework of true 'function'. He is one of only around 30 osteopaths in the UK that have done the prestigious ‘GIFT’ mentorship in the USA with the Gray Institute.

He is also 1080 Map trained. This is the only three-dimensional testing system of functional movement patterns that is validated, reliability tested, standardised, measurable, systemised, web-based and that provides powerful insights about performance and asymmetries.

He has a special interest in sports specific injuries and has treated sports people at all levels, including a premiership football player. James works with runners, hockey players, CrossFiters, rowers, triathletes (including Ironmen and women) and some of England's rugby touch-team for treatment and performance enhancement.

James has an interest in climbing and works with and assesses elite squad climbers.

He also works a lot with scoliosis in the developing adolescent and tries to understand why this has started and, with specific exercise and loading, tries to prevent its regression.

A passion close to home is the Hypermobile and HSD/hEDS population. He has a personal interest here and really understands the challenges that they face. Armed with this understanding, it really helps him to grasp patient’s concerns and needs. It is about dealing with movement and exercise in a very integrated way to help with function.

Many injuries are exacerbated by the office environment but can be overcome or improved by a combination of osteopathic treatment and preventative exercises, along with ergonomic and postural advice.

Symptoms are often just that - symptoms - and very often the cause of pain starts somewhere else.

James used to teach one day a week at one of the leading London universities, he lectures about ‘back care’ in workshops and in schools and gyms, and often has other practitioners and trainees in the clinic to observe.

James welcomes referrals from doctors and other practitioners wanting either a second opinion or a different approach when progress is proving difficult.
James’ ethos in life is ‘Look after your body and it will look after you’. Being responsible for your body is key!

He lives not far from the clinic with his lovely wife Annie and his two brilliant daughters Isabelle and Jessica have left the nest! His more recent passion is mountains and climbing them… not really silly ones… Scotland and the likes of Mont Blanc and Gran Paradiso in Italy are be plenty!

Member of the British Osteopathic Association, Member of British Medical Acupuncture Society, GIFT Mentorship graduate, Gray Institute, USA, 1080Map for elite performance enhancement, Anatomy in Motion.
