Stephanie Gammell
Lovely Steph is back after being on Maternity leave…
M.Ost, AiM, FAFS
Senior and Functional Osteopath
A Fellow of Applied Function Science (FAFS) and a movement specialist who has completed a mentorship with the prestigious Gray Institute in the USA.
Anatomy in Motion - trained with Gary Ward of BBC1’s Doctor in the House
Stephanie graduated in 2010 with a master’s degree in osteopathy after four years of training at the British School of Osteopathy, London. Soon after, Stephanie also became qualified in medical acupuncture (dry needling).
While at university, Stephanie developed an interest in the function and biomechanics of human movement. This led her to train in 2011 with the prestigious Gray Institute on their intensive mentorship programme in Applied Functional Science (AFS). This taught Stephanie how to assess, treat and understand the biomechanics of all functions of the body in 3D, such as running, lunging, squatting and throwing etc.
Stephanie continued to pursue her passion for movement and biomechanics and in 2017 completed the full Immersion training with Gary Ward’s Anatomy in Motion (AiM), adding further skills to her biomechanical expertise. AiM looks further in depth at the movement of the body during the gait cycle, giving a greater understanding of how everything connects together, in particular the important role of foot biomechanics and how this is essential for the optimum function of the whole body.
Stephanie believes that with many injuries, the area of pain may not necessarily be where the problem is. She enjoys the challenge of figuring out the underlying factors which contribute to injuries, treating the cause not just the symptoms. Stephanie is confident treating musculoskeletal injuries throughout the whole body. She has experience with a wide range of presentations and has the skills to treat both functionally off the table, as well as more traditionally on the table using varied osteopathic techniques.
Stephanie tailors her treatments to her patients’ needs and goals and provides expert care and advice in a nurturing way to help guide her patients through their injury and beyond.
Originally from West Yorkshire, Stephanie moved to London to pursue her career in osteopathy. She now lives in Leigh on Sea with her husband Oli, and French bulldog, Mabel, and enjoys travelling and experiencing different foods and cultures.
